As a professional #photographer, I get a lot of questions about how to edit photos, either taken with a camera or cell phone. ⁠

On my blog post today (link in bio) I am sharing everything I know about #presets! ⁠

What are photo presets?⁠
⁠
If you’re not familiar with presets, they a grouping of editing effects (like upping contrast, adding grain, warming up colors etc.) combined together in one step. Meaning with one touch of a button, you can drastically change the look of your photos.⁠
⁠
If you’ve used Instagram before, they’re similar to filters. However, now presets are being created and sold for every day users to apply to any photo taken with a cell phone or camera, for use on social media.⁠
⁠
Chances are, you’ve seen multiple ads for presets while scrolling. In a recent survey I did, 67% of you said you have used them before. ⁠
⁠
There are literally thousands on the market (maybe even millions!) so it’s not difficult to find some that fit your style. However, if you’re like me, you want things to be simple, inexpensive and easy to use.⁠
⁠
After searching for some time, I discovered #looxpresets by @cyriellegoupil and I was immediately hooked for so many reasons:⁠
⁠
1. They are VERY inexpensive.⁠
⁠
2. They have a HUGE variety. Every kind of edit you could want, they have a preset for!⁠
⁠
3. I love that they have desktop and mobile versions so you can edit on your phone, but also on your computer!⁠
⁠
4. They pair perfectly with the free Lightroom App, which is so easy to download and work with.⁠
⁠
5. They are SO easy to use. This was a huge one for me as I am not a big fan of learning new technology!⁠

In all seriousness, I have photographed people in some pretty weird spots in the last 10 years. Dumpsters, Porta Potties...you just never know where I might have you stand and pose. 😁⁠

So often you see the behind the scenes of me shooting, but this time I wanted to show you the behind the scenes of my shoot.

Having @bamakeupcompany there to beautify me was a huge weight lifted on shoot day.

They helped with the hair and makeup, the concept for the photos and one of the BA women was even the one behind the camera!

They know what they're doing and that's why they are one of my go-to makeup teams at the studio. ⁠
⁠
Having someone to do hair and makeup at any shoot is really a must, because they know makeup for camera, and will make you feel like a superstar. ✨

Always have been, always will be. I'm the one who prints out every e-book and digital guide I buy online. I'm the one who makes handwritten lists and loves crossing items off. I'm the one who buys 15 planners and never uses them. 😂⁠

I'm honestly not sure where this obsession comes from, but something about beautifully printed items makes my heart happy.⁠

I am currently in the throes of learning how to retrain my brain and eliminate negative thoughts.⁠
⁠
I grew up a very positive person. But somewhere along the way of early adulthood, life hit hard.⁠
⁠
I struggled to navigate marriage, motherhood and then business ownership. My husband and I worked really hard, but still struggled to pay the bills.⁠
⁠
There were years of worry, disappointment and defeat.⁠
⁠
Finally, things began to turn around and the hard work and prayers were paying off.⁠
⁠
But because I was stuck in a place of darkness for so many years, I had to totally revamp my thought patterns and my expectations.⁠
⁠
I'm so grateful I learned that I COULD change my mindset, and took the steps necessary to start turning my thoughts around.⁠
⁠
How did I do this? Lots of it was what I read (check my highlights for some of my fave reads) and who I surrounded myself with. Lots of it was prayer. ⁠
⁠
But mostly it was making a conscious choice each time I started to think negatively, to turn that thought into something positive.⁠
⁠
So often we don't even pay attention to our thoughts, even though they directly effect our mood and the moods of those around us.⁠
⁠
So next time you start to think negatively, STOP and make a conscious effort to turn that thought around into something positive. ⁠
⁠
It could literally change your entire day, week, month, year LIFE. 👊
